I am an orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in trauma management and prevention.

I received my medical degree in 1989 from University of Ibadan College of Medicine,OyoNigeria. My Internship was at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals complex, Ile-Ife from January to December 1990 after which I went for the compulsory one year National Service at the Wadata Clinic, Bida where I served as the Medical Officer for the hospital. I commenced my residency training as a junior registrar in surgery at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals complex, Ile-Ife in 1994 after passing the Part 1 Fellowship Examination of the West Africa College of Surgeons. Following my success at the Part 1 examination of the Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria where I won the Oritsejolomi Thomas’s Prize for the best candidate for 1996, I commenced my senior residency and fellowship training in orthopaedic surgery and trauma in the same hospital under Prof L. M. Oginni, late Dr. E.A Bamgboye, and in the later part, Prof A.L. Akinyoola. I passed the final fellowship examination in May 2001 and took up an present appointment with the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology College of Health Sciences, Osogbo as a Lecturer I in Orthopaedics and Trauma Unit of the Department of Surgery and rose to become a professor of surgery in 2010. Presently, I am the Provost of the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. I am also an orthopaedic surgeon with the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti. In between, I worked briefly at the Osun State University as a Professor of Surgery serving as first, the Head of Department of Anatomy, and then as the Dean of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences before taking up my present appointment.

I am a member of numerous academic and professional organizations, including the Nigerian Orthopaedic Association, the Nigerian Medical Association and the Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria, Surgical Research Society of Nigeria, Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine, Road traffic International research network (RTIRN) and the International Co-operation on Theories and Concepts in Traffic Safety (ICTCT). I am also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

My wife, 'Ronke is an economic graduate of the University of Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State. She has a Masters of Demography and Social Statistics from the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife in Nigeria, and is presently on her M. Phil study at the same university. She also loves sowing cloths and she is made some beautiful dresses for herself, her friends and her families. She is yet to make anything for me though!

My main interests are the management of orthopaedic trauma, osteomyelitis and management of back pain; but because orthopaedic surgeons are not many in our practice (We are just four in my centre), by necessity, we have to be masters of all. I also have many other interests besides orthopaedics including statistics; I wrote a book “Getting to Know SPSS” for medical researchers. I love watching and playing football, I am a member of the Let Us Bere” Senior Staff Football Club of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. I am also a member of the Dominion Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ile-Ife.
